该种身体由四部分组成，包括上部未矿化的壳瓣，中间的套管区域，中下部的锥管区域和底部的肉茎。背壳呈圆形或近圆形；腹壳外轮廓为近圆锥形，壳瓣表面通常覆盖有粗粉砂到细沙大小的碎屑颗粒；纤细的刚毛从瓣的边缘伸出；两个瓣中具有发育良好的羽状脉管；触手粗大而细长的；腹壳和下部套管区域连接，套管表面具横向条纹或环状装饰；锥管区域，较长，具轻微的矿化作用，饰有纵向条纹；底部肉茎长且柔韧，具环纹。

Body elongated and quadripartite, comprising an upper pair of unmineralized dorso-ventral valves, median collar region, lower conical tube and a pedicle. Dorsal valve circular or subcircular in outline, and ventral valve low conical with umbo directly connected to a median collar and ornamented by transverse striae or annulations. The surface is commonly coated with coarse silt to fine sand-sized detrital grains. Delicate setae are preserved projecting from the margin of the valves. Mantle canals pinnate, well developed in both valves. Lophophore composed of double crown, bearing unique thick and elongate tentacles. Conical tube, elongate and rigid, progressively stiffening apically, ornamented with longitudinal striae. Vermiform pedicle long and flexible, with a central coelomic canal emerging from apical tip of the conical tube.
